Week 4 Results

I am now reaching the stage in life when I have decide how much I want to push my body. Should I try and workout? Is it even worth it to workout? Should I eat the things I eat? Blah, Blah, Blah. All that healthy crap that doctor's tell me I should and should not do. Well, fine - I will workout, but it will consist on pick-up basketball on Sundays and trust me when I say this, we aren't exactly setting the world on fire with our pace. Yes, we are old and out of shape - but there are still a few unwritten rules when it comes to pick-up basketball....

1. Call your own fouls - this is probably one of the toughest rules. If it is even a question of whether or not you fouled them, you call it. This goes so far as to having some players call a foul on themselves when they are not apart of the play - just because they felt that a foul may have occurred. When it is all said and done, we are really out there to just run around and sweat our asses off - nobody is getting a shoe deal.

2. No cherry picking - sometimes this can be tough if there is a quick turnover and a players takes off running.... this is fine. The issue comes when a players doesn't even try to get back and play defense and just stays by the opposing teams goal waiting, knowing that the other team has no one back there. Cherry picking is for fags - literally and figuratively.

3. Call out the back screens - this is far more of a courteous thing from a team mate rather than an unwritten rule. You have to remember that in pick-up basketball we are not really trying to get hurt - so let your teammates know when they are about to get blindsided by a tiny little guy coming to set a back screen at about your dick level.

4. Stop one game earlier than you think you should - this is specifically for the injury prevention rule of thumb. When you are playing pick-up basketball and you think, "I am already sweating.... might as well go as long as I can." Nope. Stop while you still can.

5. Always try to win - this may sound contradictory to some of the previous statements - but there is nothing worse than playing pick-up basketball and having a bunch of players who are just there to mess around. There needs to be a purpose to the game; there needs to be competition to the game. Otherwise, what is the point?

Just like that surprising uncalled out back screen that resulted in a free back realignment - there are always surprises in fantasy football. Maybe specific players don't score in a comfy matchup; Maybe you catch the early flight home and catch you girlfriend getting double teamed by a blindfolded couple; Maybe your team loses a matchup they shouldn't have lost; Maybe your team won a matchup; Maybe you look like the top dawg and somehow falter in the end. Either way, life is full of surprises and so is fantasy football....

Matchup of the Week
Bluffton Backup Backups (3-1) v PEN15 Wrinkle (3-1)

You want to know where this matchup was won? The defensive position. We are talking about a swing of 24 points - wowza. I think that BBB needs to go back to playing players who are inactive and try and bring back that magic. To be fair, no one on his team had great matchups and it showed. On the flip side, Barkley is beginning to look like the Barkley of old. PEN15 has a solid team and they are quietly putting together a good start to the season. The big upset has happened and there is no longer a perfect record.

Prediction: PEN15 Wrinkle.... RIGHT!!

The Fortune Cockies (3-1) v Dixie Normous (0-4)

This is when you really begin to feel bad for a guy. Dixie Normous goes out and outscores his average by 40 points and still gets beat by almost 40 points. If Dixie can continue to have weeks like this - they will get that first win, just bad luck with this matchup. TFC had a lot of things go right for their lineup... no position scored less than double digits and 4 players scored over 20 points. That is a perfect recip for success.

Prediction: The Fortune Cockies.... RIGHT!!

Hoosier Daddy? (2-2) v Aaron Rodgers Blows Llamas** (3-1)

First off, how crazy is that Hill scores 47.6 points and is still 10 points off the record of most points for a starting player in this league - ironically, held by Hill. When Mahomes and Hill have a day like they did yesterday - they are the best stack combo in all of fantasy football. Not only that, how crazy is it that ARBL scores 170 points and is still 14 points away from cracking the top 5 all-time. Not only that, how crazy is it that Hoosier Daddy's bench almost outscored his starting lineup.

The J-Bones (1-3) v DK Country* (2-2)

I said it in the prediction column and I will say it again here - it is just too hard to replace losing the number overall pick, especially in a 14 team league with no one on the waiver wire. Who is The J-Bones suppose to pick-up? Nobody would have predicted the game that Jeremy McNichols had - and that is probably a one-hit wonder. When a lineup like DK Country come to town, you have to have your "A" game and losing the number one overall pick the week before isn't going to help.

Prediction: DK Country.... RIGHT!!
Mystery Guest: The J-Bones.... WRONG!!

Fresh Start* (3-1) v Ankle Holster (0-4)

Oh me, oh my - this is a brutal loss for Ankle Holster. The crazier part is the bench for Ankle Holster - Josh Jacobs just chilling with his bros on the pine scoring 10.7 points. To be fair, Jared Cook almost scored more during week 4 than he did during the first 3 weeks combined. In the race to get their first win (Ankle Holster, Dixie Normous, Teardrop TD's) this was equivalent to getting ready to finish a marathon and in the last 60 meters you pull a hammy - pull it right off. There are issues that Fresh Start needs to address (QB), but that can be handled - this was a time to pull off the upset and Ankle Holster dropped the ball.

Prediction: Fresh Start... RIGHT!!
Mystery Guest: Ankle Holster.... WRONG!!

Church Vans (2-2) v Country Roads (3-1)

I know that this looks bad for fantasy football - but there is a trend brewing and I am sure Church Vans is okay with it. In terms of the fantasy matchup, Vans didn't have a single break the 20 point benchmark and Country Roads had 4 players eclipse it. Country Roads was able to score 154 points and that included an off night from Kamara - scary good team here.

Prediction: Country Roads... RIGHT!!
Mystery Guest: Church Vans... WRONG!!

Teardrop TD's (0-4) v Hernandez Hit Men (3-1)

Tsk Tsk Tsk.... Teardrop TD's - news of Chark being held out for the remainder of the season was released well before game time... like days before game time. I don't know if Teardrops was hoping for a little BBB magic (kept Cook in even though he was out), but it obviously didn't workout. Something needs to happen with Teardrop's team and fast. HHM did not have the best week, it didn't matter Samuel took matters into his own hands and scored nearly half of the Teardrop's total team points.

Prediction: Hernandez Hit Men.... RIGHT!!
