Fantasy Football MVP - Christian McCaffrey (FSSV)
This should be no surprise to anyone that has followed the NFL or fantasy football throughout the season. Run CMC is averaging 30 points a week - a mark that is astonishing, considering what that would entail. Let's put this into perspective a week consisting of 100 yards rushing, 50 yards catching, 5 receptions, and a touchdown would equate to 26 points... CMC averages better than that each week. Ohhhh, and he beats the next best running back by an average of 7 points a week, clearcut stud!
Best QB - Lamar Jackson (Hoosier Daddy)
It will be shocking if Lamar Jackson is not the NFL MVP by season end - which also makes him a very easy pick for the top QB in fantasy football. Disregard the fact that he is a human highlight reel - because let's face it, you don't get more points for replays. The numbers speak for themselves, he is outscoring the 2nd best QB by 5 points per week and he has one week under 20 points and six weeks over 30 points. Talk about consistency.
Best WR - Michael Thomas (Hernandez Hit Men)
Just think about the fact that Thomas had Teddy Bridgewater as his quarterback for nearly half the fantasy season. He still has scored more than 40 points more than his pursuers at the wide receiver position. He welcomes back his gunslinger and looks forward to making his presence felt in the post season. He is averaging just under 10 receptions a week - which obviously translates to consistency and opportunity - two things that make Thomas one of the deadliest wide receivers in fantasy football.
Best TE - Travis Kelce (...And Your Johnson)
You might be thinking, "Kelce has completing underperformed all season long!!" You are right, which makes what Kelce brings to the table that much more astonishing. Kelce also dealt with a quarterback injury and still has managed to score the most points as a tight end. He now has Mahomes throwing him the ball and will be looking to destroy that consolation bracket!
Best Kicker - NOT ADAM VINATIERI
Seriously, WHAT THE F**K!?!?
Best DEF - New England
Two schools of thought when it comes to playing a defense: stream one that is playing the worst offense or lock up a top notch squad and never worry about it. New England fits both categories - not only have they been a consistent death trap for opposing offenses, but they also lined-up against Miami, New York Jets (twice), New York Giants, and Washington. They have averaged 17 points each week and they have topped 20 points five different times. Let me put it this way, if New England was a positional player - they would be ranked 30th in average points per week.
Waiver Wire All-Star - Terry McLaurin (The Back Hatch)
Okay, let's just clear the air - the waiver wire in this league is slim, like sponsoring a starving child in Africa slim. There is just nothing out there to get - McLaurin is the 26th ranked wide receiver, which does put him in a starting role as WR2 on a team somewhere. Typically, we have a quarterback that was picked up and played - this year it is a Washington WR who will more than likely be drafted somewhere in the middle of next's years draft.
Steal of the Draft - Josh Allen (Biggus Dickus)
Remember, when I said there is typically a quarterback that is picked up off the waiver wire that plays extremely well? What about getting drafted in the 15th round and 201st overall? What about being the 4th ranked quarterback? What about dominating and playing so well, that the team that drafted you - dropped you? Twice. So technically speaking, Allen could have won both the Steal of the Draft and the Waiver Wire All-Star. We will let McLaurin keep his award, reparations - or some shit like that.
Swindle of the Year - L. Fournette, T. Williams, S. Diggs for S. Barkley and P. Dorsett
(PEN15 Wrinkle/The Back Hatch)
Let's puts some numbers to this trade... 6th RB, 19th WR, 42nd WR for 21st RB, 57th WR. Hmmm, which side do you think won this trade? Sure, Barkley got hurt - nobody can predict that. However, we can't forget that Barkley lasted only six days on the squad before being shipped out. Talk about giving up a lot for nothing in return. Anybody have any comments about fleecing? Anybody? Anybody?
Post Season Team to Beat - Hoosier Daddy
If anyone has watched the end of the season play out, then they know that this award could go to two different teams (Hoosier Daddy, Aaron Rodgers Blows Llamas). The crazy part about Hoosier Daddy is that they almost missed the playoffs, needing a win in the final week to secure their spot. Hoosier Daddy locks up the award based up matchups in the upcoming week(s). Cleveland plays Cincinnati and Arizona the first two weeks and Lamar gets Buffalo and NYJets. Look out playoffs, Hoosier Daddy is coming with a wrecking ball.
If you have any disagreements with the awards my email is always an open door. In fact if you would like to suggest a different player you can send it directly to my personal email - the email address is idontgive@f*&k.com. I will be awaiting for your thoughts!
But seriously, one area I would like to discuss it the voting process and issues with the league. I would like to have everyone vote for next season's league rules prior to the end of this year - which should give enough time to have everything set-up correctly for next year. If you have any suggestions on what you would like to have voted upon, send me an email and I (someone else) will create a voting document. Get your suggestions in, we will have a vote in the week prior to the championship matchup.
Now, let's get to the results...
Matchup of the Week
Biggus Dickus* (7-6) v Hernandez Hit Men (7-6)
Results: Hernandez Hit Men wins
Prediction: Hernandez Hit Men wins... RIGHT!!
Mystery Guest: Hernandez Hit Men wins... RIGHT!!
Wings of Dickarus** (10-3) v The Back Hatch (7-6)
Wings was already locked in as the number one seed going into this week, let's look at the team that was fighting for their life....
The Back Hatch did what they needed to do, Win! The only problem is that the other three teams also won - which means the tie breaker comes into effect, which is not good for The Back Hatch. Trailing all other 7-6 team, we now have our first year (in a very long time) when a team will finish with a losing record and not make the playoffs. Soooooo, you got that going for you?
Result: The Back Hatch wins
Prediction: Wings of Dickarus wins.... WRONG!!
Mystery Guest: Wings of Dickarus wins... WRONG!!
Florida State Seminal Vesicle** (7-6) v Bluffton Backup Backups (3-10)
As stated earlier, many thanks go to Bluffton Backup Backups - going out with a win! Now on to the more important issues....
FSSV needed a win to possibly take over the 2nd seed - didn't happen. They lost, which throws a huge wrench into the playoff plans, luckily he was able to score enough points to get him in the playoffs. There is a plethora of teams sitting at 7-6 and FSSV now sits as one of the giant killers looking to take down the top dogs.
Result: FSSV wins
Prediction: FSSV wins.... WRONG!!
Mystery Guest: FSSV wins.... WRONG!!
...And Your Johnson (4-9) v Massive TDs* (7-6)
Johnson was one of the teams that was eliminated earlier on, but props to them for continuing to fight and actually winning in 2 of the past 3 weeks. Unfortunately, they were unable to go out with a win and actually gave hope to Massive TD's playoff chances. Massive did what it needed to do, in terms of getting the win. However, they needed more than just a win for them to make the playoffs. They needed to score a ton of points or they needed someone to lose - neither happened. Which now means that Massive TD's is the first team to be left out of the playoffs. Just stick to college football and those parlay bets!
Results: Massive TD's wins
Prediction: ...And Your Johnson wins... WRONG!!
Mystery Guest: Massive TD's wins.... RIGHT!!
Aaron Rodgers Blows Llamas** (8-5) v Ankle Holster* (5-8)
ARBL has done well for itself, winning in the final week and moving himself up the rankings. Not only that, but they are now flying high with the belt going into week one. The scary part for ARBL's opponent in the first: in the week following, belt winners are 9-3.
On the flip side, Ankle Holster will not be joining the festivities. Instead, he will be relaxing at home cursing his decision making and constantly questioning how he could take a team that featured 3 running backs in the top 15 and some how not make the playoffs in a league where over half the teams make it! A real H-ache!
Results: Aaron Rodgers Blows Llamas wins
Prediction: Ankle Holster wins... WRONG!!
Mystery Guest: Ankle Holster wins... WRONG!!
The J-Bones (3-10) v PEN15 Wrinkle* (8-5)
This matchup had far more implications than what it looks like on the surface level. Sure, it looks like a bottom dweller team going against a leader in the division - but in reality....
Had The J-Bones won, they would have avoided being the worst team in the league. Remember back when the DDA had The J-Bones and their tier one studded roster as the 2nd best team (and many argued they were the best). Had The J-Bones won (and PEN15 lost) PEN15 would not be the 2nd seed, instead they would be out of the playoffs. Think about that.... had PEN15 lost, they would have gone from winning their division to being out of the playoffs!!! However, it did not happen like that and they squeak by into the playoffs as the 2nd seed.
Result: PEN15 Wrinkle wins
Prediction: PEN15 Wrinkle wins... RIGHT!!
Mystery Guest: The J-Bones wins... WRONG!!
Dixie Normous (8-5) v Hoosier Daddy** (7-6)
Dixie Normous had a chance to knock out one of the top teams before the playoffs, but he dropped the ball. Now, we all must pay the consequences of dealing with Hoosier Daddy and his friendly matchups all the way to the championship. Thanks a lot!
Hoosier Daddy needed to win and it would essentially secure a playoff spot - which happened. Now Hoosier Daddy goes into the playoffs and is the team to beat. They have friendly matchups on their way to the championship and finished 2nd in points scored this season. This playoff run could give them a chance to make a run at the all-time scoring record.
Results: Hoosier Daddy wins
Prediction: Hoosier Daddy wins... RIGHT!!
Mystery Guest: Hoosier Daddy wins... RIGHT!!
Season: 48-36, 1 belt prediction correct
Mystery Guest: 44-40, 3 belt predictions correct
Bless
