In fantasy football salt is like your role players. The saying goes, "start your studs." What this really means, is that no matter who your big-time guys are playing you don't take them out. Forget about matchup problems - "start your studs." These guys are your meat and potatoes. What separates your meat and potatoes from other plates of meat and potatoes? Your salt. You players and the decisions you make on who to play and who not to play consist of your "salt." Hopefully, you got enough salt and found the right combination to "push it real good" (okay, I am done now). Let's see who had the perfect amount of salt this week....
Col. Erran Morad (2-7) v Mike McCarthy is Gay (2-7)
What a close matchup we had this week between two teams that desperately needed a win! Both teams scoring in the top half of the league this week - 4th and 5th respectively. Unfortunately, they were playing each other and someone had to lose.
For MMIG, Lewis and Cooks had good weeks - Lewis almost brought MMIG back in the MNF game. If only MMIG had a little salt to throw on the meal, but with a poor showing from Barber and James and nothing extraordinary from the Panthers defense - there just wasn't enough salt to go around.
However, the Colonel found plenty of salt and sprinkled on a few players. Jordan Howard had been underwhelming all season long, until this week when he found the end zone twice. Mike Davis, the former IU basketball coach, had a great showing as well. Those two running backs were both ranked outside the top 30 before this week. Obviously, the big addition would be Col. Morad's top scorer - Bears DST. Now, I get it - Peterman was starting. But nobody could've seen this amount of points from the defense. The Bears DST ended finishing 10th overall this week, that is ridiculous for a defense to rank that high in any given week.
Result: Col. Erran Morad wins
Prediction: MMIG wins....WRONG

Sagging TD's (1-8) v The J-Bones (4-5)
This was a very interesting matchup - both teams had salt, just one team didn't enough. James Conner is a running back who has been enjoying life with Bell - he is the 3rd ranked running back. That could change quickly, but not this week. Tevin Coleman would be a huge mound of salt, for now - because soon he might be turning into a nice slab of meat. Coleman is now the starting running back in ATL and he looked every bit the part. He lead The J-Bones to the highest score this week. With a power-packed punch like Conner and Coleman this team could be hard to beat - as long as Bell doesn't ruin Conner's touches.
On the flip side, Sagging actually put together a full lineup and even looked good doing it. Brees is a force to be reckoned with, especially anytime he finds himself in a game that should result in a shootout. Everyone else fell short of what was needed - outside of Watson telling the world that he and his wife are about to have twins (respective babies 6 and 7 - take that Kunkels!) But, I would not be doing my job if I didn't call attention to the Dolphins defense. Who would have thought that the Vikings defense would have scored 23 points and still been outscored by the Dolphins defense? Blows my mind, the Dolphins defense would have the been the top scorer for three other teams - and they still weren't even the top scoring defense this week!
Result: The J-Bones wins

Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood (6-3) v Prible is my B*tch (4-5)
The difference in this matchup? The salt. James White has been a fantasy stud this year, never failing to score less than 14 points in a given week, and has found himself as the 6th best running back - more meat and potatoes than salt. However, the 49ers defense managed to score 14 points in a Thursday Night football game. Anytime you can get that amount from your defense and you can salvage a win in a terrible week (performance-wise) you can be thankful.
For PIMB, let's just all take a moment and recognize Julio Jones. This has been by far his most consistent year - and this is the first week he scored a touchdown. A normal year for Jones might consist of a few mediocre weeks and then one week where he has 4,000 yards receiving. Not this year, Jones has turned over a new leaf and is extremely consistent. Unfortunately, PIMB didn't have any salt in the defense and tight end position.

UrBlogIsWeak SucItAtkins (3-6) v Team Dez Nuts (3-6)
I tell you what, if you don't have any salt - you better hope your opponent doesn't either. That would be the case in this matchup.
In this matchup only one person managed to score more than 20 points - Kelce, who had a great week. However, on his team only one other position managed double digit points. Yikes! To be fair, Dez Nuts was missing Luck at quarterback and Yeldon at running back. Martin should eventually have better games - but right now, this team needs to have a players only sit down and get their affairs in order. Or do they? Let us remember, Dez Nuts actually won this week.
UrBlogIsWeak - I have no time that can be spent on a team that has chosen to slander this blog with their name and then also have performances like this. You disgust me!
Result: Team Dez Nuts wins
Prediction: UrBlogIsWeak wins.....WRONG

Hernandez Hit Men (8-1) v The Trashmen (4-5)
In the predictions article, I had informed The Trashmen that they might be in for a bit of a beatdown after the Hernandez Hit Men was handed their first loss the week before. Who gave them that loss? Oh yes, that is right - in fact HHM, you still have a little bit of White Condomint on your face!
Anyways, HHM this week had a terrific week. With great performances from the meat and potatoes (Mahomes and McCaffrey) as well as plenty of salt with a stellar performance from Heuerman.
After that, just sprinkle a little more salt on few other positions and you have yourself the 2nd highest scoring total.
Unlucky for The Trashmen, they just ran into an angry top level team. OJ Howard had a great game, and he is loving the fact that Fitzpatrick is back. Ryan had a great game, and Adams was decent. There is just nothing you can do when the other team plays a guy at tight end that happens to double his previous career bests in receptions and receiving yards. I don't know if it is a smart play by HHM, or just lucky - either way, it happened.

I AM STUPID (5-4) v Steady Diet (8-1)
It is fitting that our league and the NFL both lost the last undefeated team in the same week. You want to know what Steady Diet didn't have? The salt.
Newton and Kamara both played well, the latter played extremely well. However, with nothing else really working for Steady - it was a disaster in the making. Although, to be fair Steady has had quiet a few breaks happen in order to keep his streak alive - Tom Brady kneeling, to name one. What really killed Steady Diet? Gronk being ruled out and the Redskins DST scoring -4. Not a good combo.
On the flip side, I AM STUPID didn't have much salt either. Instead, STUPID just ordered a double serving of meat - this man loves his meat. He loves his meat on his plate, on his fork, and he especially loves his meat in his mouth - who doesn't? I would guess that after the performance Thomas and Goff put-up this week, some might rate his meat a 20/10 - only some though.
All jokes aside, the man has nice meat and Thomas had a huge week! That is what it is going to take to knock off the last undefeated team in the Bluffton Bombshells - a very nice package of meat!
Result: I AM STUPID wins

Matchup of the Week
White Condomints (8-1) v Hoosier Daddy (5-4)
This matchup was extremely close and also could be one that happens in the future.... playoffs???
QB - Prescott v Wilson
Wilson had a decent game against a good defense. Prescott and the Cowboys look lost - however, Prescott was able to find the end zone twice. That helped considering he needed to score points in MNF otherwise this matchup would have gone the other way. Wilson had the advantage and Wilson won.
RB - Hunt/Ingram v Gurley/Jones
It looked like Gurley was going to explode this week. Instead, Kamara ended up exploding in that game. However, Hunt continued to terrorize the Browns defense all game long. Hunt had a huge game, and it was needed because Ingram was virtually sidelined while Kamara torched the Rams. Gurley/Jones had the advantage, but Hunt/Ingram (just Hunt) won.
WR - Hopkins/Brown v Evans/Sutton
This was a matchup that the outcome was expected - it was just a matter of how much the difference was going to be. Nobody would have guessed that Evans ends up the low scorer on the Hoosier Daddy's team - nobody. Hopkins/Brown win the matchup and was expected to.
TE - Kittle v Olsen
Olsen had a slight advantage just because Kittle played on Thursday Night. It turns out, it didn't matter. Kittle was only targeted four times, but made a tremendous catch in between two defenders and continued to be inefficient with his opportunities. Olsen had a good game himself, making a few terrific catches in traffic. Olsen had the slight advantage, Kittle won.
FLEX - Cohen v Gordon
Flash Gordon reminded everybody that he still has "it." With Tom Brady throwing the ball, Gordon could be extremely deadly the rest of the season. Look for this tandem to keep up this performance - which makes Hoosier Daddy a very scary team. Cohen had the slight advantage, Gordon cruised.
D/K - Patriots/Butker v Broncos/Fairbairn
Since neither of the defenses where the ones that exploded for huge points - this matchup was pretty much meaningless. Although, the Broncos/Fairbairn had the advantage and they won.
Result: White Condomints wins
