Week 1 - The beginning

If you want a quick synopsis of our league - just read the previous two posts and you will get an idea of how it works.

The match-ups for week 1:

Juan Fatt Bidge vs. J-Bones
Mizuno Blue vs. Team P is a D
Hoosier Daddy vs. Sagging TD's
Dakster's Lab vs. I miss Tyler
BringBack Harbs vs. John Robles
Aaron Rodgers is G vs. Waco Kids
Generic Name vs. Certified "G"

Let's breakdown the forecast (in reverse order)...

Generic Name vs. Certified "G"

This is a close battle, but I gotta give the edge to Generic Name - solely because of the running back situation. I just don't trust Mixon and Perkins and Certified has no real established horse. I would give a slight edge in receivers to Certified. I think M. Thomas has a good game - but I don't trust B. Marshall. I think the tight ends is actually much closer than what most would say. I am fairly high on J. Graham this year. So all in all, with the running back situation a clear disadvantage for Certified and I going with Generic. Plus, let's face it - Generic Name is ran by one of those guys that could essentially do Matthew Berry's job. We all know what I mean; he has cheat sheets and charts - so he must have picked a good team right?

Prediction: GN over "G" by 10 points

Aaron Rodgers is G vs. Waco Kids

This is a very interesting match-up, for multiple reasons. The main reason is the fact that this is a match-up between our head football coach (Waco) and the defensive coordinator (A. Rodgers) for our school football team. So if  A.R.I.G. beats Waco - is he fired?

It is also very interesting because of Hurricane Irma. Waco use their first pick on Jay Ajayi and ARIG used their first pick on Mike Evans - neither are now playing in week 1. This means that their depth is going to come into play much sooner than projected.

Waco is going with T. Gurley and A. Abdullah at running back. Personally, I am pretty high on Gurley this year - reports are saying that he has worked on his pass catching and could see 40+ receptions this year. Not to mention, that with the Rams trading for Watkins - it does give reason for teams to not put eight in the box against the run. His receivers are D. Moncrief and R. Cobb - coincidentally both are 2nd and 3rd options on their respective teams. He does throw out the ageless wonder - D. Brees - that man always seems to put up huge fantasy numbers. Plus, he does have one the better pass catching tight ends - T. Kelce (who became even better with the Chiefs getting rid there only other pass catching threat).

ARIG is starting M. Gillislee and F. Gore in the running back slots. He will be going with A. Jeffery and M. Crabtree (assuming that is who he replaces M. Evans with). While the receivers are pretty shaky - I like them much more than the running backs. I really can never trust the Patriots backfield - nobody knows who is going to get the ball from game to game. And let's not get started on "long tooth" Gore - seriously, how long has that cat been in the league?? But, don't worry, it gets worse... He has the tough decision between B. Hoyer and T. Taylor at quarterback. Talk about two studs...

The struggle is real for both these teams and in my experience with fantasy football - actual football coaches are not very good. These two seem to follow that trend - sorry boys!

Prediction: Waco beats ARIG by 8 (both are the lowest scores of the week)

BringBack Harbs vs. John Robles

BringBack Harbs - where to start? where to start? Let me preface this - this manager has never shown up to a draft party - NEVER!! I am very displeased at this notion - very displeased. Anyways, I am not a huge fan of BB Harbs' running backs. I can not trust a running back who is coming back out of retirement, even if it is BeastMode. I also am not a huge fan of J. Stewart, especially with C. McCaffrey hogging much of the passing touches. Harbs has an enormous edge in the receiver department - Jones and Cooks. Jones is a receiver that could literally win the week all by himself. That is not an exaggeration. Overall, a solid team hoping for a solid week.

John Robles on the other hand - they might be struggling all season long! Of all their running backs and receivers, their best players is someone who is more than likely going to be splitting touches all season long. Murray is going to lose a lot of touches to D. Henry in the Titans offense - take that to the bank! Along with that, both his receivers are on the Titans. This team will live or die with the Tennessee offense! Although, who doesn't love JACKIE FRIGGIN' DOYLE!!! What a locker room guy!

Prediction: BB Harbs beats J. Robles by 22

Dakster's vs Miss Tyler

Not only am I a fan of Dakster's Lab as a name, I am also a fan of his team. I know many experts are saying that Dak will not be as good (fantasy wise) as he was last year - I whole-heartedly disagree. With all the turmoil surrounding Elliott this team may have to lean on the passing game a little more. With an offensive line like that Dak will have all day to find the open receiver. I really like his running backs - Miller and Howard. Both of these players should see a high majority of their respective backfield touches. The receivers are so-so, both apart of offenses with multiple options - but both should see their fair share of targets.

On the flip side - Miss Tyler - is throwing-out a pretty good team himself. When looking at his team, one would think, "What is he doing starting McFadden?" Well, what you don't see is that he drafted Elliott and I going to assume that he move Elliott into the starting lineup (here's hoping). He has two good receivers - if Allen can actually play more than a couple plays this year. Mariota is thought to have a big year and with plenty of weapons and a solid running back committee - I don't see why he wouldn't.

Nonetheless, I just like Dakster's name too much....

Prediction: Dakster beats Miss Tyler by 5

Hoosier Daddy vs Saggin' TD's

First, I need to clarify that Hoosier is ran by our school's technology director. The power that man has is absurd! By no means is the principal really in charge - our tech guys probably have so much dirt on every teacher, all they need to do is just look the history. So, if you thought for one minute that I was going to say anything bad about that guy's team - you are greatly mistaken.

With that being said, Hoosier Daddy is a great team! Nothing wrong with it - no weak spots anywhere. Especially at tight end - what a stud!! Who doesn't want a tight end in a run heavy offense, seriously great move! He has really thought this one out and he knows his stuff!

It is really unfortunate for Saggin' - I mean I am like Lavar Ball, "I speak things into existence." So, when I am forced to say that Hoosier has a great team and he is going to win - there is nothing you can do about it! Even if you are sporting two good pass catching backs and have one of the most consistent receivers in all of fantasy football. I am sorry, you are just matched up against the wrong guy this week.

Prediction: Hoosier beats TD's by a margin of 3 points (he is the most powerful man in the building)

Mizuno Blue vs Team P is a D

I will start with TPIAD. I am going to give you a little insight, this guy may never change his line-up once all season. He wasn't at the draft, he doesn't even know who is on his team. He may not even know what a football is? For all I know he could think we are playing Fantasy Futbol (you know, soccer). So we are going to have to take his team as it is...

L. Bell is a killer. He is great and there is nothing you can do about it. I think D. Bryant is going to have a big year - 14+ touchdowns big. He does have the one player that I feel like has been in this league longer than Frank Gore and that is "long tooth" Fitzy. I really do hate his quarterback - Bradford just is not the fantasy quarterback you want starting on your team. The man can really take a snap - turn around - wait about 4 seconds - and then throw it out of bounds! What a great game manager!

Mizuno Blue - coincidentally was voted the best team in our DDA (read the post about the draft party if you are confused). If L. Bell is a killer, D. Johnson is an atomic bomb. Reports are saying that Johnson wants to rush and receive over 1k yards... each! EACH!! That has never been done and smart money would bet that it won't be done - but the fact there is a slight chance it could happen, is unbelievable. Mizuno could use a little work in the receiver department - but the tight end makes up for that. Olsen is a player that should pretty much be considered a receiver - he has been the number target on the Panthers for how many years in a row now?

Prediction: Mizuno beats TPIAD by 22

Juan Fatt Bidge vs J-Bones

Matchup of the Week

Yes, I am one of these teams - but that is not why this is the match-up of the week. This is the match-up of the week because it features 2 of the top 3 teams in our DDA. Stand down haters!

J-Bones has plenty of options to replace his suspended Snead with - Theilen, Britt, Lockett. That should be of no worry. His bigger concern should be the fact that his quarterback has 34 kids and drives a bus to deliver them all to school. How is Rivers supposed to gameplay when he has to make 34 pack lunches? Seriously, though - this team is good. He has two pretty good running backs - although Freeman did just get paid and let's see if he has a slight drop-off because he already has that mo-nay! T. Hill is a freak athlete and if he gets in open space - he could easily take it to the house.

On the flip side, JFB was hit with a killer blow from Irma. Jacquizz Rodgers is no longer going to be playing week 1 and he was forced to pick-up Smallwood (trust me, the name does not apply). McCoy is a solid running back - and should about the only weapon on the Bills offense.  Baldwin is a solid receiver; but without A. Luck playing Hilton does take a little hit. I think the real "X" factor is D. Walker. JFB is really high on Walker and even stated that he will be the number 1 tight end by the end of the season.

This should be a close match-up - both teams look good on paper. I do have to give the edge to one team - mainly because the other team is playing with Smallwood (see what I did there?)

Prediction: Bones beats JFB by 2 points

Mwah!
