There was another teacher that I taught with and he would always call it the Sunday Night Blues. For me, it is more the Monday Morning - when that alarm goes off and you have got to find motivation for the day to start. Now, some of you out there drink coffee - others workout - and even still others just try to eat something. Well, I have never like coffee; I am a little lazy when it comes to working out, and I would rather sleep an extra 20 minutes than try and make myself some breakfast. However, I know that when I get to work and I have a little extra time - I get to check out the fantasy football scoreboard (not that I wasn't constantly checking it all day on Sunday).
The first week of real NFL football. You learn so much about teams: who is getting those crucial touches from the running back committee? Which offense line can give their quarterback enough to actually hit a wide receiver? What defense do you want to avoid?
It is also the first week that everyone, especially me, gets that first "gut-check" punch - "Maybe I don't know as much I thought I did?" Before this week I predicted the outcomes to my fantasy league and boy did I make some people made...
"Your analysis is worse than your fantasy team"
"Your prediction(s) are horse poop. You know nothing"
"You are asinine"
In fact one manager even bet me, he could pick better throughout the year - HAHAHA, I laugh in that man's face. He predicts fantasy football like a girl!!! (Sandlot, anyone?)
My predictions:
Generic Name beats Certified "G" by 10 points
Waco Kids beats Aaron Rodgers is GAY by 8 points
BringBack Harbs beats John Robles by 22 points
Dakster's Lab beats I miss Tyler by 5 points
Hoosier Daddy beats Sagging TD's by 3 points
Mizuno Blue beats Team Price is a D**k by 22 points
J-Bones beats Juan Fatt Bidge by 2 points
Generic Name vs Certified "G"
I thought these teams were bad - but not this bad; given, Generic still has his 3 big studs going tonight and he actually still has a chance to win. I would go as far as to say, he will win. I don't want to say I pretty much nailed this match-up, bbbbbbuuuutttt I pretty much nailed it!
Certified's running backs struggled and just don't have the experience. Plus, the tight end match up was much closer that what most would say - not this guy!!! All I need is Generic's studs to actually show up tonight and ball out!
Mark it down - Generic comes back and wins this one.
Aaron Rodgers is GAY vs Waco Kids
This is the "gut punch" match-up. I believe I stated that these two were the worst teams and would both be the lowest score of the week. I could not have been more wrong. ARIG had a great week, starting it off early was Gillislee and then Tate carried on the trend. One thing to note, Gore was bad and he may not even have his starting job after a couple weeks.
Waco still managed to put up a decent amount of points and Brees is still going tonight. Brees is the type of player that could throw for 5 touchdowns and 300 yards and actually make this a good matchup. I still don't think there is any way Waco catches up with ARIG - but there is much, much, much improvement from our last head football coach who tried to play fantasy football. I do look forward to when both of these teams actually get their number 1 player back from a very early bye week.
I could not have been more wrong about ARIG and there is a slim chance that Waco comes back and wins this match-up.
BringBack Harbs vs John Robles
Looking at BringBack Harbs and his bench, one would probably think - "If only he had played Stafford!!" However, sticking with Wilson was the right call. He was going against a much softer secondary and Stafford just had a great game against a really good team. Moving forward through the season, will be a little tougher to pick between those two. Stafford is in the type of offense where he will be throwing the ball - and throwing it a lot. He threw 41 times and that is even after he threw a pick-six on his first attempt. Detroit just doesn't have the running backs or defense to support a run game.
I would like to make note that BringBack Harbs took out Stewart and replaced him with Coleman at running back. That may or may not have been due to the prediction post I wrote earlier in the week - if so, sorry! But then again, not really sorry. What are all the kids saying these days? #SorryNotSorry
J. Robles, what a sorry excuse for a team. I really hope that Ingram has a decent game - for your sake. Right now, there is not anyone on this team I would trade for. Fournette had a good game, but the Jags were lucky their defense demolished the Texans offense and it allowed them take the ball out of Bortles' hands and place right into a running game. This team is bad - here is hoping though!
I predicted BringBack wins and I am sticking with it! Suck it, J. Robles!
Dakster's Lab vs I miss Tyler
I really thought Dakster's would have a much better showing this week. The team was pretty consistent until you get to the defense and kicker. There are a few offenses I want to avoid when selecting a defense for the week - Oakland is one of them. Plus, I am not even sure Tennessee was really known for their defense? Odd decision. On the issue with the kicker - nobody from Indianapolis will have a good year if Luck doesn't get healthy, and fast!
Nontheless, Dak is still up 10 points - but in a "PPR" league that can change quickly. I think in order for Dak to keep their lead Rudolph will need to score 15+ points or Keenan Allen will need to get hurt (both of which have a pretty high possibility).
I predicted Dak would win by 5 points - and I would love it, if it ended that way!
Hoosier Daddy vs Sagging TD's
Everybody remember when I made fun of Charles Clay? Yeah, dat boi found da end zone! Combine Clay's good game with consistent points across the board and a mammoth of game from Hunt and you have yourself a pretty good week! Ironically, though this match-up is close!
A. Brown did his normal, just another day in the office, outing: 11 receptions (did not drop a single pass) for 182 yards!! Unreal - how are defenses not triple teaming him every time he is on the field?!? Even with a game like that, Sagging would have no chance had the Rams not played to worst looking team in the NFL. Two teams switched quarterbacks during the game in week 1 - Texans and Colts. Both the defenses they were going against scored 29 points, do you all see a coincidence? Well, do ya?
I said that Hoosier Daddy would win and I am sticking to it! I am not going to upset the technology guru and come in the next day with my room's electronics all malfunctioning.
Mizuno Blue vs Team Price is a D**k
Well, this is pretty much what I expected. The crazy part of it, David Johnson and Allen Robinson but got hurt and both might miss a large portion, if not the entire, of the season. I don't even know where to begin with Team PIAD - he had better hope that Thomas and Bradford can score some points. He ain't winning this matchup, but lets play for a little pride. Please, please don't have the lowest point total. I know this isn't your first time playing fantasy football (it isn't, right?), but we are all hoping you find a way to put your big boy pants on figure how play this gift to men that we call Fantasy Football!
I said Mizuno Blue would win, and there is no way I am changing that pick!
J-Bones vs Juan Fatt Bidge
This was the matchup of the week and it did not disappoint - with the best team in league leading right now. I mean seriously, JFB has all the makings of a dynasty. A stud running back - Shady is going to continue to get the ball; A stellar defense - don't sleep on the Jags, especially with their schedule; the top Tight End - and he was drafted in the 6th round! If Juan Fatt can get a little production from those receivers - he might not lose a game all season! (do you know which one I manage?)
No disrespect to J-Bones, a very solid team and this matchup is not over yet. Fleener and Thielen could very easily score 15 points each and give the J-Bones the win. Remember, I predicted J-Bones to defeat JFB by 2 points and gosh darn it, it could happen! Tyreek Hill is a gangster at wide receiver and we gotta think that Dalton is not going negative each week, right?
In the matchup of the week (thanks to the DDA), J-Bones will come back and beat JFB - just as predicted.

P.S. - Shout out to Nate Navigato, Luke Knapke, and Evan Calendine! Go Rockets!
