Tarik Cohen is the Najee Richardson. Cohen has legitimate speed and athletic ability that separated himself from everyone else on the waiver. He has the ability to make the big play at any moment - and he loaded the stat sheet in week 1 (all while splitting carries with Jordan Howard). In fact one student - who knows nothing about football - said, "Don't the Bears have this new guy on their team? I heard he is the 'buns'!
I am fairly positive "buns" is a good thing - as in reference to how good someone's "buns" look.
He was referring to Tarik Cohen.
Kerwynn Williams, Chris Carson, and Javorious Allen are the Josh Levin type players. These are players - who are athletic in their own right - but they don't have the stylistic approach that Cohen has. Cohen will be any leagues top waiver wire pickup, because he is a sexy pickup. Cohen is flashy. These three are great pickups and have the ability to put up points - especially because they will have opportunity. All three of their respective teams lost their starter for either the season or a big portion of it. They are strong candidates for pickups - just not the flashy pick.
Sometimes you need a truck and not a lambo to get the job done!
Week 2 match-ups:
Juan Fatt Bidge (0-1) vs Aaron Rodgers is GAY (1-0)
Hoosier Daddy (1-0) vs The J-Bones (1-0)
Team Price is a D**k (0-1) vs Dakster's Lab (1-0)
Mizuno Blue (1-0) vs BringBack Harbs (1-0)
I miss Tyler (0-1) vs Waco Kids (0-1)
John Robles (0-1) vs Certified "G" (0-1)
Sagging TD's (1-0) vs Sergio Dippsh*ts (1-0) - Match-up of the Week
Juan Fatt Bidge vs Aaron Rodgers is GAY
A Rodger is GAY is coming off their big win against Waco and are looking to continue by beating JFB. Looking at the match-up, in my very biased opinion, I think there is no chance ARIG puts up back-to-back to victories.
Both teams have players coming off the "Irma Bye Week" and have had plenty of time for rest and preparation. The advantage that ARIG has as receivers and tight-end will by nullified by T.Y. and Walker. I am looking for the Colts to game plan around getting T.Y. the ball and he will have a big game. The Jags defense had an amazing game against the Bengals and shutdown Dalton. Look for the Titans to establish the run game and Walker to have 5 or less receptions going into the 4th quarter, but will finish with a touchdown and he will outperform Reed. There is no way Gillislee scores three times again and nobody knows what "long-tooth" Gore will do with that offensive line.
Prediction: Juan Fatt beats ARIG by 15 points
Hoosier Daddy vs J-Bones
This matchup looks great on paper and would have been great last week as well. A high candidate for the match-up of the week with both teams winning and J-bones scoring the 2nd high point total last week (Hoosier Daddy lost to the top point scorer). This match-up is the classic big plays vs consistent play.
Kareem Hunt looked unstoppable last week. Completely unstoppable. I do not see a repeat performance. Hear me out, he will score - but in no way, is he scoring 40+ points again. Hopkins will be consistent - at least he is all but guaranteed plenty of targets. Crowell will get his touches, especially with Duke Johnson getting a little banged up last week. Odell and Sanders have the ability to make big plays - but I just don't trust the ankle or the quarterback play this early.
On the flip side, Thielen made big play after big play after big play. He looked like he was going to haul in the catch no matter where the ball was thrown. If not for Diggs and Rudolph getting the receiving TD's and maybe one or two going to Thielen - who knows who would have been the top scorer? Tyreek Hill, how about one more time....
Like I said earlier, a great match-up and two great teams...
Prediction: Hoosier Daddy beats J-Bones by 7 points
Team Price is a D**k vs Dakster's Lab
I was extremely high on Dak last week and thought they had an amazing team. I was very low on Price is a D last week and thought they had a terrible team. Ironically....
I think Price is a D**k pulls off the upset and takes the win on this one. I really truly can not trust either quarterback - and I do not care if Flacco is playing Cleveland - I am giving the edge to Bradford. I am no believer is Bradford, but I am a believer in those receivers. Thielen and Diggs looked great last week and Cook and the running game going. Des will have a much better game this week. Look for him to get a touchdown, maybe two. Bell will be the cowbell and old man Fitzy is playing the Colts - so you know he is going to ball out!
Dak is still has a good team - but, he is just not looking that good this week. It is similar to when you are at a bar and you see someone across the room and they look like an 8. You move a little closer and you begin to realize that they were sitting in the shadows and surrounding by a group of 5's. You quickly make a turn and head towards the restroom - splash some water on your face and head back to the dance floor.
Dak - you are the person I am avoiding for the rest of the night.
Prediction: Prices is a D beats Dak by 15 points
BringBack Harbs vs Mizuno Blue
Mizuno and BringBack both won last week. However, during that week - one team lost two starters and the other team escaped essentially unscathed.
Mizuno lost David Johnson and Allen Robinson. Clearly one of those are a little harder to replace - the other, ehhhhhhhhh. Mizuno also has Hyde going against the Seahawks defense and is now very touchdown reliant with Blount. Hurns becomes the first receiver - but he plays in a run heavy offense. Olsen will have a much better week and Maclin could torch the Browns defense.
I think Russell Wilson will have much better game this week against a very weak secondary. I still don't trust Lynch and most definitely do not trust Coleman with Freeman being the top back in Atlanta. I know he will get his touches - but just how many is the question. I think this matchup comes down to receivers and let's be honest this is where the matchup is just not close at all. Jones and Cooks both have big play ability as well as the skill to be a trusted possession receiver.
What it really comes down to is this: Are Mizuno Blue's replacement players enough to hold off BringBack Harbs'?
Prediction: Harbs beats Blues by 15 points
I miss Tyler vs Waco Kids
Both teams are coming off tough weeks. Although I miss Tyler has to be ecstatic about having Elliott for the remainder of the season (more than likely). Waco also has to be very happy about finally getting to play his first round draft pick as well.
We all know what Alex Smith did the Patriots - one can only imagine what Brees will do. The running backs for Waco look good - although we still have yet to see if Gurley is good or Indy is really just that bad. One the flip side, everyone knows what that Cowboys offensive line can do and with Elliott touching the rock 15 to 20 times a games - we know he is going to score. I still think Powell will get more and more touches as the season progresses.
The real advantage is when it comes down to receivers. A.J. Green is no longer being shadowed by Jalen Ramsey and good money is on him to have a big day. Allen made it through the first week and now he looks to extend his health streak. With Cobb the 3rd option in Green Bay and Sanu essentially a 3rd option - Jones being option 1 and 2 in Atlanta, there is not a lot of trust there in terms of volume. Kelce is going to need to be the "X" factor for the Waco Kids.
I am going to take the team with the best running back and the best receivers.
Prediction: I miss Tyler beats Waco Kids by 15 points
John Robles vs Certified "G"
It is a very good thing for John Robles that he is facing Certified "G." Both teams are coming off loses and both teams are looking to rebound - and need to.
Brady and Carr both have good match-ups Although, the Patriots are not afraid to pound the ball - which could be detrimental to Brady's touchdowns. There really was no question in this league where Tarik Cohen was going - everybody put in a waiver for him and he went to the worst team. He does help out the running back situation. Although that is a pretty big advantage for John Robles.
The receiver department is a slight advantage for the Certified. I think Crowder will have a much better game and obviously Jordy is always going to score points. The question is: can the Titans receivers score against the Jags secondary?
You know what - as I am writing this, I am talking myself into it.
Prediction: Certified "G" pulls off the upset and beats John Robles by 2 points
Sagging TD's vs Sergio Dippsh*ts - Match-up of the Week
Both teams are winners. One team scored the most points last weeks - the other team always seems win no matter who they play. Cheat codes bro... cheat codes
I personally think the Green Bay vs Atlanta game will be a shoot-out. Rodgers is usually money in those games, especially with all weapons. After last week's games I am a much bigger believer in Cook. He will get the ball a lot and with Minnesota looking to control the ball Cook could see 20+ points this week. Gordon will always get enough touches to score consistently. Can Sagging's running backs get enough receptions to keep that battle close?
The wide receivers is a different story. Brown and Diggs have a clear advantage over Thomas and Marshall. The advantage is as wide as the canyon is grand. Neither tight end is superb - but I think the edge goes to Jimmy Graham. And yes, one must always say "Jimmy Graham" when referring to "Jimmy Graham."
I said it after the draft and I still believe it. Sagging TD's just isn't that good of a team. Let's see if he can have another week just like week 1 - he is going to need it to make a believer out of me.
Prediction: Sergio takes down last week's top scorer Saggin by 10 points.
I speak it into existence - Me aka Lavar Ball
